Navigate U houses students’ PeopleSoft and Canvas data, plus information loaded by users. To see how to prep for an appointment using Navigate, view instructions (coming soon). Categories appear in the student profile and represent different fields or attributes from PeopleSoft. For more information on categories, see the data dictionary (coming soon).

There are several ways to document interactions with students in Navigate U.

  • If the appointment was booked in Navigate U, learn how to submit an Appointment Summary Report.
  • If the appointment was booked outside of Navigate U, learn how to Report on an Appointment.
  • If you need to document an interaction outside an appointment (i.e., drop-in session, hallways interaction, email), learn how to Add a Note.

When loading notes to Navigate U, please be sure to adhere to these guidelines (coming soon).

Student referrals can be sent, received, and tracked in Navigate U. Learn how to refer a student to a Student Success Coach.

To build out both incoming and outgoing referrals for your office, submit your feedback (coming soon).

As a supervisor in your unit, there will be tasks that need to be accomplished on behalf of the unit. Several features are available for the Director of Advising role, such as reporting and requesting access for users.

To request access to Navigate U for new staff or staff with new responsibilities, submit a role access request. After credentials are confirmed, it will be reviewed by the position’s supervisor and the Navigate U Advisory Committee.

Unit Leads meet every six weeks as a community of practice. More information about Unit Leads, including their meeting dates and times coming soon.

The Navigate U will host several trainings to prepare users for the full launch of the software. To request a separate training for your unit outside the dates below, email Maggie Blanton at maggie.blanton@utah.edu.

Office Hours

For additional support following training, the Navigate U team offers office hours to troubleshoot issues, assist with setting up availability, walk through different features, and answer any Navigate questions.

Office hours are available every Tuesday from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and every Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. through the Teams link below. If you are not available to attend during those hours, please email navigateinfo@utah.edu to schedule a time to meet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Try logging in with your uNID (without the @utah.edu) and password. If this still doesn’t work, email navigateinfo@utah.edu and include your full name, uNID, and a screenshot of your error screen.

Currently prospective students do not have access to Navigate U, so scheduling for those appointments should occur through a different system.

Email navigateinfo@utah.edu to add a location to your unit’s appointment configurations. Once it’s loaded, users in your unit will be able to list that new location when they load availability.

No, advisors will still need to lift the hold in PeopleSoft.

No, it is only a student-facing platform.

When Navigate is synced with Outlook, it shows students only the available spots during that time. If you put all-day notes or reminders on your calendar, be sure they read as free in Outlook.

Go to the student’s profile and click Report on Appointment.
